Sweat

This story shows us african american people’s traditions and conventions and main themes are racism, the social place of the african-american woman in the society and the torture of woman. for example; delia Jones’s husband do not work and cheats on his wife against this situtation delia jones works and gains money looks after her husband by washing laundries of white people. Delia’s husband likes to torture (yell, get angry) but delia is the economically independent one in this story.

it was a good story but was hard to understand because of its language.

How is the energy produced?

http://home.clara.net/darvill/altenerg/biomass.htm#how

Biomass is biological material derived from living, or recently living organisms. In the context of biomass for energy this is often used to mean plant based material, but biomass can equally apply to both animal and vegetable derived material.

http://www.biomassenergycentre.org.uk/portal/page?_pageid=76,15049&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL

Biomass is a renewable energy source because the energy it contains comes from the sun. Through the process of photosynthesis, chlorophyll in plants captures the sun’s energy by converting carbon dioxide from the air and water from the ground into carbohydrates, complex compounds composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. When these carbohydrates are burned, they turn back into carbon dioxide and water and release the sun’s energy they contain. In this way, biomass functions as a sort of natural battery for storing solar energy. As long as biomass is produced sustainably—with only as much used as is grown—the battery will last indefinitely.

What are the benefit and drawbacks?

Bio-fuels prove advantageous in the following ways: • Bio-fuels lessen the burden on gradually-vanishing fossil fuels. • Bio-fuels are environment-friendly. They help reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere. • Bio-fuels, especially, bio-diesel prove to be very cost- effective for consumers.

Bio-fuels are not bereft of criticism. Though beneficial for the environment, bio-fuels have its disadvantages, paradoxically in the environmental purview. Bio-fuels have received criticism for many reasons, a couple of which are stated below: • Economists have long debated on the usefulness of first generation bio-fuels when compared to the lack of food they cause. Generating fuel from food crops makes food crops unworthy of human consumption. Some people believe that being a higher priority than fuel, food should not be farmed for making fuels but for human consumption. • Making bio-fuels require acres of farming land, thus encroaching upon the natural habitat of plants and animals.

Petrol Ofisi, the largest oil company in Turkey has today launched a new premium diesel fuel, Prodizel Plus, based on the exclusive use of Ethyl’s (NYSE: EY) Greenburn(R) Combustion Technology.

This latest enhancement to the quality of Petrol Ofisi’s fuel comes about as the result of an ongoing cooperative product development process. Prodizel Plus offers all of the features of its Prodizel predecessor; less smoke, cleaner engines and better performance, with the added advantage of having the best ignition quality of any fuel in Turkey.

İs it available to all?

bp4: Using biomass to achieve a carbon balance

The combustion (direct or indirect) of biomass as a fuel also returns CO2 to the atmosphere.  However this carbon is part of the current carbon cycle: it was absorbed during the growth of the plant over the previous few months or years and, provided the land continues to support growing plant material, a sustainable balance is maintained between carbon emitted and absorbed.

The carbon cycle of a short rotation coppice system used for heat or power generation

(a) As trees in the energy plantation grow, they absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

(b) During photosynthesis the trees store carbon in their woody tissue and oxygen is released back to the atmosphere.

(c) At harvest, woodfuel is transported from the plantation to the heat or power generating plant.

(d) As the wood is burned at the heat or power generating plant the carbon stored in the woody tissue combines with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, this is emitted back to the atmosphere in the exhaust gases.

The amount of additional biomass that grows over the course of a year in a given area is known as the annual increment.  Provided the amount consumed is less than the annual increment its use can be sustainable and biomass can be considered a low carbon fuel and biomass CO2 absorption and emission is in balance.

For forestry in the UK, the annual timber increment is of the order of 20 million tonnes.  On top of this is the increment of all the agricultural crops and other vegetation.http://www.biomassenergycentre.org.uk/images/1x1.gif

I want to talk Skywalker family in Star Wars. Anakin Skywalker and Princess Padme are in love since anakin’s childhood and they got married (at the end of second movie 🙂 sorry for this timeless explanations but the movie passes in a long long long time ago 🙂 ).  In the 3rd movie; Padme and Anakin are married and they love each other extremely while their honeymoon Padme got pregnant.

Anakin was a poor boy who lives in a desert planet with his mother. Anakin and his mother were slaves. Master Qui-Gon jin and Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Master and his bright student) discover Young anakin while they were in a mission. They sense that Anakin would be the most Powerful Jedi Knight in the universe that’s why they took him to Jedi Temple.  after a couple occupation (qui-gon jin death, convincing Master Yoda) they accept Anakin as a padawan of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin is the most powerful person in that temple, he learns fast but he is impatient. In the second movie Anakin lost his mother because of an invasion, this lost create a huge fear in his life. He fill his mother’s place with Padme and the fear of losing Padme is the only fear in Anakin’s life.Padme is a retired princess and also she is a senator of a planet which named “Alderaan” she has responsibilities, she is powerful, she has all characteristics of a fairy princess 🙂 One day Anakin saw a illusion that Padme was dying while she was giving birth to their children. as it was the Anakin’s only fear he start to search solutions. He finds solution in dark side. He passes to dark side to save his lover.

Hours pass and empire is rising etc. Anakin is on duty for serving his dark lord by destroying democracy and rising emperializm -by the way Anakin’s new name is Darth Vader- people searching for Anakin that’s why Padme goes to Anakin and asks ” Did you pass into the dark side of force?” anakin says “yes honeybunny for you, for saving you bla bla”… At that moment anakin got angry because of his ancient master Obi-Wan Kenobi who was hiding in the starship of Padme (Anakin thinks that Obi-Wan want to separate them). Anakin can’t control himself, he fails against his uncontrolled angry and start to choke Padme with force.

Padme passes out. Obi-Wan cuts Anakin’s legs and arm and take Padme to hospital. Meanwhile Darth Sidious the Dark Lord finds Anakin and take him to hospital.

Padme is in hospital, she is healthy but don’t wanna live. Anakin is in hospital and suffering to death. Padme gives birth to children. Anakin is still suffering. Padme Dies. Darth Vader Rises. Anakin’s -i mean Darth Vader’s- only fear push Padme into suicide.

By the end Darth Sidious make Darth Vader beleive to Darth vader killed padme with his own anger, with this news Darth Vader is getting crazier and start to blow up everything even the planets in galaxies.

Children; a boy and a girl. Boy’s name is Luke girl’s name is Leia. Children adopted by Alderaans royalty and obi-wan kenobi. They got separated.

As you see an innocent love can cause end of democracy, and can cause death of people like Padme and Anakin.

Darth Vader rules the universe with fear of emprial and dealing with some rebellians which are wanting democracy back. and his little son luke skywalker involved this rebellian stuff with helps of obi-wan. while revolution he meet with his twin Leia who is the head of revolution. days pass and obi-wan trains anakin to be a jedi but obi-wan dies in a strike to save princess leia so anakin goes tomaster yoda to continue his jedi training. while he was training force he saw a illusion that leia and his friends are in danger, he pauses his training and goes to save his friends and Leia. While saving operation, he fights with darth vader. In their fight Darth Vader tells luke that darth vader is luke’s father. Luke escapes from fight and goes back to master yoda for finishing his training butyoda dies because he is 800 years old.then he got back for strike of revolution and he got captured by his father and is taken prisoner of Darth Sidious. Darth sidious wanted to kill Luke because he was refusing to pass to dark side. While Darth sidious almost killing Luke, Darth Vader rescues Luke. Luke want to save his father but he was injured by Darth sidious and he dies. When he died Darth Vader become immortal and appears toluke. and we find out that Darth Vader passed into the light side and became Anakin again. As we see fatherly instincts changes universe’s destiny.

The Enormous Radio

it’s a very interesting story by John Cheeer. Irene & Jim Westcotts are middle-class people who are living life plenty of joy, happiness etc. Incident starts with breakdown of an old radio. Jim, Radio with Cabinetthe greatest lover and the well behaved father in the world, buys a brand new, big radio to his, very lovely, the well behaved and the happiest wife, Irene.Irene turns on radio as usual but this time there is something else for her, there is reality for her.

She listens her neighbors conversations via radio then she finds out that everyone has “Enormous” problems. La Vie En Rose d’Irene* falls apart suddenly. She starts to see the ugly real world.  “”They’re really such nice people…. They have such nice faces….”” these are thoughts of irene for a band which plays a gospel song.

This Super-Radio cause depression for Irene, she started to know outside world via radio while she listens her neighbors, she says ” ..They’re all worried…” this sentence shows us that Irene isn’t worried at all ’till Jim got radio fixed.  This fixation costs some money and this money issue occurs some “worries”. These worries breaks her little pink glasses.

*d’Irene means of Irene

P.S. The world is not good. My Roomate (Atakan) is snoring. I Feel Depressed.
